Is our Sleeplessness Part of our Awakening!

Are you struggling to fall asleep? Or waking during the night? Are you waking early and can't fall asleep again? Waking up feeling unrefreshed and worn out?

So many people I speak to seem to be having issues with sleep at the moment.


There seems to be growing evidence that all the lockdowns, restrictions, upset to routines over the past couple of years are taking their toll. Fear, anxiety, depression, loss, frustration can all upset sleep. Overthinking and addiction to screens and fear for the future is probably the biggest cause of sleep deprivation.

I want to look at this issue from a different angle.


What if our Sleeplessness is partly about our Awakening?

A lovely lady asked me for a reading this week that intrigued me. I couldn't wait to get started! With her permission, I'm going to share some of the insights from her reading that could resonate with many of us. It certainly did with me.

She was wanting advice and insight into why her sleep was being disturbed and so unrefreshing. Was she busy elsewhere during her sleep? That night I was struggling to sleep myself as I was receiving big downloads and information about what is going on for us as a collective. So I'll share with you some of the points that came up and see what you think!


As we Awaken, we open ourselves up to beautiful energy systems that are supporting us, helping us heal, and bringing us back to our True Selves. These energies work as we sleep, in our subconscious minds so that our Ego Mind doesn't get in the way and talk us out of how amazing, wonderful, divine we are. We grow as we sleep! The Awakening process seems to be accelerating, with many more people having this experience at this time. It's all Divinely Guided at the perfect time for each individual.


However, when the World seems to be going completely mad, there is a real need for the information the Universe wants us to know and I think it is disrupting our sleep. We are awoken by downloads as we are being shifted from 3D living into higher vibrational living.

Time doesn't exist, it's a man made construct, so the Universe gives us what we need when we need it. It doesn't recognise bedtime, working hours or family routines! It is focussed in the Now and we need the downloads NOW! As a result, our natural rhythms are being disrupted.

Does your body need to sleep at 4 in the afternoon and then you can't get to sleep at night? If you turned off your alarm, would you sleep until lunchtime? 3D living is so dependent on clocks, watches, deadlines, timetables, that we can't rest when our body says it needs to. No one ever said change was easy or comfortable! Awakening Souls are moving to a different vibrational reality; one where we live in the Now, and if we need to sleep Now, that's what we do. We're transitioning to a different way of Being and sleep is an important part of that process.


We are being guided to Heal ourselves; to let go of all that no longer serves, be they possessions, relationships with people who are no longer a positive presence, careers, places, old memories and experiences, you know what you personally need to release. This major clear out and spring clean of our physical and mental space is the start. The real work is when we go within and start on the emotional aspects of ourselves. Facing our shadow, our trauma and deeply buried pain is not for the faint hearted. It highlights the reality of parental, societal and religious programming we've been carrying within our subconscious since childhood. It is painful, confusing, isolating and utterly exhausting. We need to create the space in our lives to step back, release, rest and recharge. Being able to sleep when we need to is a vital part of the process. No wonder we'd feel drained and exhausted!

How do we hold down a job and do this healing? That's the problem...the man-made construct of time. Toxic workplaces that value productivity and profit over human lives do not help us support our own needs, healing and wellness. Many are stepping back from that way of life to find a way of life that suits their needs first, by setting up their own businesses or finding awakened employers who DO value their employees.

All this is being highlighted, our Light is shining into all the Dark spaces and highlighting what doesn't serve.


In my experience, many Lightworkers I know are being completely poleaxed right now, suffering from flare ups of adrenal exhaustion, debilitating conditions like Fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, autoimmune conditions and complex PTSD to name a few. We are being slowed down to REST, REST, REST. The Healing process is utterly exhausting and debilitating for some, not all. We must always remind ourselves that lying on the sofa is not lazy, we're healing. Needing to sleep at odd times of the day is not wasting time, we're healing. Stepping back from other people for a bit is not selfish, we need space to rest as we're healing!


Having a daily meditative practice is vital, I feel. A one hour reiki treatment or meditation is like 7 hours of good quality sleep. Taking time out of your regular routine to bring it all back to Self can give you the rest you need to get through the day. Mindfulness brings us back to the Present moment, the Now, which is the only moment that matters. By grounding and finding our centre at regular moments throughout our day, we can give our conscious mind a rest. Meditating before bedtime can help us clear our minds and help relax us in readiness for a good night's sleep.

Setting the intention " I am going to have an undisturbed, refreshing night's sleep" or "I am awakening, healing and coming back to my True Self in a way that allows me to sleep soundly." out loud, three times or more, every night before you go to bed is one way to tell your subconscious mind to do its work without waking you.


These are very unusual times and there are no easy answers. All we can do is rest when we can, sleep when we can and Trust the Universe has a plan for us, the timing is perfect, all is as it should be. We need to be patient, living in this moment Now. That's all that ever matters, that's all there is. One moment of Now followed by the next moment of Now.
